Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Roadrunners Use Strong Second Half to Down Cougars

The Colorado Christian women's soccer team lost a tough 3-0 game to the Metro State Roadrunners on Friday evening. CCU came out strong and dominated the first half, but were unable to put anything past the Roadrunners' goalie Breanna Flores. The Cougars outshot Metro State in the first half (7-3), and had Metro on their heels throughout the entire first half.

The first 17 minutes of the second were again won by the Colorado Christian women, but as the clock was approaching the 63rd minute, Metro tallied the first score of the day. The goal was scored by Noemy Polanco as she netted a free kick from 25 yards out. Seven minutes later the Roadrunners got their second goal when McKinzie Rieber snuck past the Cougar defense and was able to beat Christian keeper Shaya Lawrence. Regina Banks scored MSU's final goal of the game as she collected a rebound off of her initial shot and put her second shot in the back of the net.

It was the tale of two halves for the Christian women as they played well for the majority of the game, but in the end they could not overcome the offensive onslaught put on them in the second half by Metro. With the loss, CCU drops to 0-6-1, and 0-3 in conference play. They will look to bounce back and get into the win column in their next game on Sunday as they take on Regis in Denver. Game time is scheduled for 2:30PM.
