The Regis University Women's Soccer squad, including a suffocating defense, bottled up Colorado Christian University's offense on Sunday afternoon in Denver. The Rangers defeated CCU 3-0.
Kat Krump recorded the shutout on the day, but was not challenged much as she only needed to make one save against the Cougars. The Colorado Christian defense battled to keep the game close through the first half, but the blue and gold ran out of gas late. After going into the break down 1-0, CCU gave up two second-period goals to finish out the game.
The scoring got underway in the first half when Regis senior Sid Otto took a pass from teammate Sade Akindele and fired a shot into the back of the net. Otto was not done on the day, as she snuck one past Cougar keeper
Shaya Lawrence for her second goal of the game and fourth of the year. The scoring was capped off when Regan Bosnyak executed a perfect header off of a free kick from Akina Fujimoto. Â
Regis dominated the stat sheet as they outshot CCU on the day 21-4. With the loss, the Cougars drop to 0-7-1 on the year and 0-4 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. Colorado Christian will return home for their next game as they take on New Mexico Highlands University on Friday with a game time scheduled for 10 AM MST. Â
