Cougars Cruise to Second Straight Victory

CCU took on Western New Mexico University on Saturday night and was able to dominate every facet of the game which led them to the 89-66 victory. The win improves the Cougar record to 6-7 on the year and also earns them their second consecutive conference victory.
 
Colorado Christian set the tone early in the first half as they were able to control the ball and capitalize on an 18-11 rebounding advantage which led to a 38-24 advantage heading into halftime. They were connecting on shots from all over the floor and finished the first half shooting 56% (14-25) from the field. Ty McGee (12 points), and Andre Lane (10 points) were the leading scorers for the team at the break.
 
Christian stepped up the intensity on the offensive side of things in the second half especially from beyond the three point line. CCU tripled their output from deep as they were able to connect on 9-18 shots from three and finished the game shooting 46% (12-26) from downtown. Another key for the victory was the Colorado Christian defense was able to force 16 turnovers in the game which led to 28 points.
 
Offensively, the Cougars were led by Zach McLemore who scored a game high 25 points. McLemore also added five rebounds, and led the team with four assists. Close behind him was Andre Lane who scored 19 in the game. Lane hit on 5-7 shots from beyond the arc and also led the team with seven rebounds. Ty McGee also scored in double figures for the game with 16 points.
 
The Cougars will be heading back home for their next game as they will take on Fort Lewis College on Friday night at the CCU Event Center. Tip is scheduled for 7 PM MST.
