The men's soccer team traveled to Rapid City, SD on Sunday afternoon to face off against conference opponent South Dakota School of Mines. The Hardrockers got the last laugh on the day, as they scored a late second half goal which defeated the Cougars by a final score of 2-1.
 
Mines put the pressure on Colorado Christian early and often, and it paid off just over 12 minutes into the game as they were able to score the opening goal and take the 1-0 lead over CCU. Both defenses held strong during the remaining time in the first half, but the Cougs were able to break free just moments before time expired. Blake Goodale found the back of the net with one second remaining on the clock. Larson Hanlin got the assist on the goal. It was the third goal of the season for Goodale, and first assist for Hanlin.
 
The Hardrockers took over in the second half as they outshot CCU 7-1 in the half, and 15-4 overall in the game. Despite the lopsided shot totals, the game remained tied 1-1 late in the second half. However, with just over ten minutes remaining in the game, Mines was able to score the deciding goal, and secure a 2-1 defeat of CCU.
 
The loss drops the Cougars record to 1-9 overall, and 1-5 in conference play. They will remain on the road for their next games, as they will take on Westminster College on Friday Oct. 7^th. That game will be hosted by Westminster in Salt Lake City, UT. Game time is scheduled for 3PM MST.
