Cougars Lose on the Road

Colorado Christian took on New Mexico Highlands University on Sunday afternoon in Las Vegas, NM. CCU gave a valiant effort as they outshot the Cowgirls 15-9 in the game, but were unable to score as they were defeated by a final score of 1-0.

In the first half, both teams played cautiously to open the game, as each took some time to determine how the other was going to play on the day. The defenses remained stout for the Cougars until the 37th minute, when Highlands was able to break free and score the lone goal of the game.

The Christian offense did everything they could to even up the score, but were unable to get one into the back of the net against the Cowgirls keeper. Both Alyssa Regalado and Sheridan Spelman had three shots on goal in the game. The loss marks the third straight game in which the Cougars have been defeated by a 1-0 final score.

The loss drops the Cougars record to 5-5 overall, and 2-3 in conference play. They will return home next weekend for a pair of home conference games. They will be taking on Colorado Mesa University on Friday Oct. 7th at 12PM MST. CCU will be looking to get things back on track, as they are 4-2 at home on the season.
