CCU Volleyball traveled to Colorado Springs on Friday night to play UCCS; the start of their second consecutive weekend on the road. The Cougs were unsuccessful against the Mountain Lions losing in four sets.
The last two weeks have been a tough stretch for CCU playing some of the top teams in the RMAC and losing three matches in a row. Going into their game against UCCS both squads were 6-4 in conference. It was a crucial game regarding the RMAC standings, where the Cougars dropped to #7.
Christian struggled all night long to put a ball down. All of CCU's hitters were at or under a .200% with
Taylor Sturms having the high of 12 kills. UCCS had 15 more kills than blue and gold, running a fast offense.
In the second match, the Cougs won 25-20 and had 16 kills (.324%), 19 digs, and four total team blocks. Head Coach
Andria Harshman stated "Tonight was not our night. We made some minor adjustments and we had an opportunity after game two to come out ready to fight and they just had too much for us."
Ultimately the Mountain Lions overpowered CCU in every area on the court. CCU will be back in the Denver Metro area tomorrow night playing Metro State University Denver. The Roadrunners rank 1
st in conference at 12-0. Game time is set for 5:00 PM.
