Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

CCU Defeated by Yotes

Colorado Christian was on the road on Friday night as they were taking on the College of Idaho in Caldwell, ID. The Cougs battled hard, but fell just short as they were defeated 69-76. CCU is now 2-1 on the year.

The Yotes got off to a fast start, as they were able to build a seven point lead just a minute and a half into the game. From that point the Cougars did their best to claw back into the game. Each time they would cut the lead down, the College of Idaho would respond and build it back up. With six minutes left in the first half, CCU had cut the deficit down to just five, as they trailed 25-30. Then the College of Idaho finished the first half with a flurry of made shots and went into the halftime break leading the Cougars by 12 by the score of 32-44.

In the second half, the Yotes had their lead built up as high as 17, but CCU continued to battle and chipped away at the deficit. With just over eight minutes remaining in the game, the Cougs had trimmed the Yotes lead down to just three, and had taken control of the momentum. However, that was as close as Christian would get, as the College of Idaho was able to hit key shots late which sealed their victory over CCU.

Ty McGee led the team in scoring by hitting 8-12 shots from the floor to finish with 21 points. Dimitri Saliba finished with 18 points, and also led the team with seven assists. Andre Lane was the only other Cougar in double figures as he finished with 11 points while knocking down 3-6 from beyond the arc.

Head coach Kevin Lubbers spoke after the game saying, "When you turn the ball over 20 times against a good team on the road, you lose. That formula hasn't changed since basketball was invented. We have another opportunity tomorrow, and another chance to get better and clean things up."

The team will remain in Idaho for their next game tomorrow night as they face off against Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, ID. Tip is scheduled for 8PM MST.
