Convincing First Round Win at NCCAA Nationals

Colorado Christian scored early and often in route to an 8-0 victory over John Wesley University in the first game of the NCCAA National Championships which are being held in Kissimmee, FL. The Cougars head into the tournament ranked as the sixth seed.

The Cougars wasted little time after the game started to put the opening marker on the board. In the seventh minute, Meghan Troupe took a pass from Alyssa Regalado and promptly found the back of the net to put the team up 1-0. It marked the first goal of the season for Troupe. Regalado kept the pressure on, and in the 10th minute she was able to get one past the JWU keeper to push the Cougar lead to 2-0. CCU added two more goals before the break as Sarah Feller and Hannah Triem each scored to give the team a 4-0 lead heading into halftime.

Even the halftime break could not cool off the red hot Christian squad as they tallied their fifth goal of the game just 41 seconds after the second half began. The goal was scored by Alyssa Regalado which marked her second of the game. Sarah Feller scored her second goal of the game in the 61st minute. Mollie Monson and Kennady McCullough capped off an impressive offensive display as they each scored a goal in the second half which sealed the 8-0 victory for the Cougs.

Alyssa Regalado finished the game with two goals and two assists. Freshman Sarah Feller also had two goals in the game. Kennady McCullough, Meghan Troupe, Mollie Monson, and Hannah Triem each added one goal in the game. Sheridan Spelman and Sarah Butler each had one assist.

Head coach Tammy McPherson was pleased with her team after the game saying, "This was a good game for us as we remained disciplined throughout the entire match."
