Volleyball defeated Adams State on the road in five sets. It was a clutch win for blue and gold as both teams, CCU and ASU are fighting to get into the RMAC Tournament. Christian is now 10-6 in conference and fifth in the standings, as the Grizzles are 9-7 and seventh overall.
Â
CCU won the first two sets 25-20 and 25-22, then lost the next two 22-25 and 16-25. Coach Harshman commented saying, "It was a back and forth battle. Adams responded well and put pressure on us in sets three and four, but we responded with a surge of energy and ended the match with a great run of serving and defense to back it up."
Â
The match consisted of pretty even stats with the two squads. CCU hit a little cleaner that ASU with .192%, compared to .186%. Christian had 12 team blocks and Adams had 10. ASU led on defense with 84 digs while the Cougs had 74. The big difference on paper was from the serving line. Once again Christian put pressure on their opponent from the back with ten aces, while the Grizzles knocked off four of their own. As a team, if you can keep the serve you usually can get the win. CCU got the win.
