It was a tightly contested first half, but turned into a lopsided affair as Colorado Christian was defeated by Colorado School of Mines by a final score of 2-0. The talented Oredigger squad found their rhythm in the second half and didn't look back as they breezed past the Cougars.

CCU put on a stellar defensive display in the first half, which was spearheaded by the strong play from senior goalkeeper
Brandon Eide. The game remained scoreless as the end of the first half neared, but Mines finally broke through the defense and scored the opening goal of the game in the 43
rd minute. Eide made a fantastic save with ten seconds remaining which kept the score 1-0 heading into the break.

This game was the conference opener for both teams, as Mines is looking to defend their title as they were crowned conference champions last year. Heading into the year, Mines was ranked sixth nationally, and they demonstrated why in the second half. The Orediggers tallied six goals on the Cougs in the second half.

The loss drops CCU's record to 0-5-0 on the year, and 0-1-0 in conference play. They will be back in action on Friday Sep. 16
th as they will travel up to Pueblo, CO to take on CSU-Pueblo. The game is scheduled to begin at 7PM MST.
