The Colorado Christian volleyball team traveled to Irvine, CA, to compete in the Concordia University Labor Day Tournament. The team split the opening day of their season, as they defeated Azusa Pacific University in five sets, but were defeated in straight sets by Simon Fraser University.

Game 1:
CCU started the year off in style as they defeated Azusa Pacific University in game one. After winning, the first two sets in the match (25-20, 25-23), APU battled back and took the next two (22-25, 22-25), which sent the match into a fifth and final set. They finished off Azusa Pacific in the final set by a final score of 15-12, and earned their first win of the season.

Mollie Bailey was a significant factor for the Cougars victory as she led the team in kills (17), digs (17), and aces (3). Key contributions were also made by
Sophia Proano. Proano finished the match hitting .351 with 17 kills.
Kylee Wurster had 51 assists and 16 digs on the day.

Game 2:
The Cougars ran into a buzz saw in game two Friday night as they squared off against Simon Fraser University. SFU took the match in straight sets as they won 23-25, 13-25, 21-25.

Mollie Bailey was the team leader again in the nightcap as she had nine kills and 11 digs. Simon Fraser had a stronger attack game, as they led in kills (37), compared to just 27 for the Cougs.

CCU will be back in action on Saturday for day two of the tournament as they begin the day against Seattle Pacific University at 10:45AM MST. Then they will finish off the day with a matchup against tournament host Concordia University at 9PM MST.
