Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

CCU Narrowly Defeated by #9 Regis

Colorado Christian had a tall task as they faced off against undefeated Regis University on Friday afternoon in Lakewood, CO. CCU kept the game close throughout, but fell to the 9th ranked Regis squad by a final score of 1-0.

Both defenses ran the game for the majority of the first half, but Regis was able to capitalize on a scoring chance in the 32nd minute. Regis attacker Tom Grimley was able to sneak a shot past Cougar keeper Brandon Eide, which gave Regis the 1-0 lead. The CCU deficit remained at one heading into halftime.

The Cougars gave the Rangers more of a fight than they were expecting, so they came out of the break looking to keep the pressure on, and add to their lead. As the offensive attack heated up, Brandon Eide remained calm, cool and collected guarding the net. Eide kept the team within striking distance one remarkable save at a time. In the 58th minute, Regis drew a foul inside of the Cougs box to set up a penalty kick attempt. The Regis attacker sent a shot towards the upper right hand corner of the net, but Eide made a miraculous save. The attempts kept mounting up, but Eide sent each one away. When all was said and done, he had made 12 saves in the second half alone, 14 overall for the game.

CCU was unable to get any traction on the offensive end, as Regis was able to complete the shutout and hang on for the 1-0 win. It was a valiant effort for Colorado Christian, as they were able to give the undefeated Regis team everything they could handle in the game.

With the loss, the Cougars record now sits at 1-8-0 overall, and 1-4-0 in RMAC play. CCU will hit the road for their next game, which will be played on Sunday Oct. 2nd. They will be traveling up to Rapid City, SD to square off against South Dakota School of Mines. Game time is scheduled for 1PM MST.
