Colorado Christian University Men's Soccer traveled just down the road for the second time this weekend, to play the Regis University Rangers in Denver. Coming into the game, the Cougars held a record of 1-4-0 in conference, and 1-7-1 overall. The Rangers conference record was 2-3-0, and 4-3-0 overall. Outmatching the Cougars offensively, the Rangers won with a final score of 4-1.
The game was off to an exciting start as Regis scored within the first minute of play. CCU's one and only goal was scored by senior defender
Eduard Shevchuk, earning his second goal of the season off of a free kick that went through the keepers hands in the 20
th minute. The Rangers went on to score two more goals in the first half, one off of a penalty kick and the other in the last minute.
The Rangers scored their last goal off of a volley in the 61
st minute to make the final score of 4-1.
CCU put up a total of five shots throughout the game, each one from a different player. RU put up twenty five shots. Freshman goalie
Will Ford made five saves. The Cougars dealt seven fouls and two yellow cards, and the Rangers dealt thirteen fouls with one yellow card.
The loss gives the Cougars a conference record of 1-5-0, and an overall record of 1-8-1.
Hosting their next conference game against Adams State on Friday, October 6
th the Cougars will take on the Grizzlies who are currently 3-3-0 in conference play. The game will be held at Lakewood Memorial at 1:30pm.
