The Cougars played their last away game of the regular season on Sunday, October 22nd on a beautiful day in Salt Lake City, Utah. After battling with the Westminster Griffins for two halves, the Cougars took another loss with a final score of 2-1.
Each team scored one a piece in the first half. The Griffins scored the first goal in the 26th minute, after a foul in the Cougars box gave them an opportunity for a penalty kick which was capitalized on. The Cougars were quick to equalize the score 1-1 only a minute and a half later with a goal from
Blake Goodale from the top of the box, assisted by
Nathanael Flack. The goal gives Goodale his fourth goal of the season.
The Griffins scored their second goal in the 77th minute of play, off of a header assisted from the right side.
CCU got up 7 shots, and WC got up 20. Both teams took only three corner kicks.
The loss puts CCU 1-9-2 in conference and 1-12-3 overall. The Cougars will finish out their regular season with two home games next weekend, opening up with the Colorado Mesa Mavericks on Thursday, October 26th at 1:30pm. Following Thursday, the Cougars will face the Griffins again for their senior game on Saturday, October 28th for another 1:30pm kickoff.
