Men's Soccer took to the field to play the Mavericks of Colorado Mesa, for the second time in a week. The Mavericks, currently ranked 20
th in the nation and 2
nd in conference, took the win with a final score of 5-0.
The first three goals for Mesa were scored in the first half. The first two were made in regular play, and the third was off of a penalty kick after a foul in the Cougar box. Moshe Perez, the leading scorer for the Mavericks, had the first and third goal.
The Mavericks outshot the Cougars in the first half 7-4, but both teams were even with six fouls a piece.
Coming into the second half, the Cougars began to play more aggressively which showed on the foul count. They had two yellow cards and eleven more fouls. The Mavericks however were still able to get in two more goals in the second half, to make the final score 5-0.
The loss gives the Cougars a record of 1-13-3 overall, and 1-10-2 in conference.
This Saturday, October 28th, the Cougars will play their last game of the season against the Westminster Griffins. Kickoff is at 1:30pm at Trailblazer Stadium. The eight seniors will be recognized for everything they have put in throughout their years at CCU.
