Cougars Claim Last Road Trip Win

The Cougars did not disappoint in Chadron, NE as they took on the Chadron State Eagles.  CCU won in a quick three sets 25-21, 25-20, and 25-12.  The Eagles are a middle of the pack team trying to fight their way into the playoffs with a record of 5-9.  The win for CCU puts them at 11-3 and still sitting in fourth place in conference behind Regis, Colo. Mines, and Metro State.

The Lady Cougs were led by CCU sophomore outside hitter Cali Bahnsen who had 14 kills and only one error off 36 attempts (.361%).  It was one of Bahnsen's best performance this season. CCU hit a team total of .343% with a number of incredible individual performances.  Freshman middle hitter Jasa Scheierman had six kills off nine attempts, hitting .556% and right side hitter Sophia Proano hit .455% with 11 kills.  Setter Kylee Wurster was solid all the way around with three kills of her own, no errors, three aces, six digs, and 34 assists.  Libero Mariela Gonzalez led in digs with 17.

After a very close first set that went point for point all the way into the upper teens (19-18), blue and gold broke free with Bahnsen scoring four of the six points needed to get to 25.  Christian was in control for the rest of the match.  Chadron had a hard time scoring with 18 errors compared to the Cougars seven.  CCU outplayed the Eagles at the net totaling eight blocks to three and ten more kills 42-32.

Colorado Christian Volleyball will finish up their conference season on their home court starting on Nov. 3rd vs Fort Lewis College at 7:00 PM.
