Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Lady Cougs Take Skyhawks Down in Three

CCU Volleyball defeated Fort Lewis College in three sets on Friday night 25-17, 25-22, 25-23.  When CCU was at the Skyhawks gym in early October, they went to four sets, dropping the first.  It looks as though CCU has improved their play all the way around since then.

Christian had a strong win in the first set.  With ten more kills than FLC 19-9, hitting a team percentage of .375% the Cougars had hold of the lead the entire game.  The second set was a lot closer as Fort Lewis stepped up their offense.  Blue and gold continued to have more kills and blocks in the front row earning them the win.

The third started out rough for CCU as they made several hitting errors giving the Skyhawks the lead, but the Cougs recovered quickly and gained in points 9-6.  They stayed ahead 2-3 points all the way until Fort Lewis' middle hitter #3 and setter #10 caught fire and scored four points to tie the game at 22s.  Luckily CCU's outside hitter Jacey Johnson and right side Hailey Ferguson put down three big kills to win the game 25-22.

Players that stood out for the Cougs were many starting with outside hitter Cali Bahnsen who had nine kills, no errors at .692%.  Jacey Johnson totaled a match high in kills with 15, hitting .367%.  The Cougar middles did a great job in the center of the net as Jasa Scheierman hit .364% and Angela Jurek .400% with four blocks.  CCU setter Kylee Wurster was athletic as ever throwing up 43 assists and digging 11.  She led her team to 50 kills at .315%.

CCU Volleyball will be back on their home court Nov. 4th to play Adams State University.  The game is set for 5:00 PM as they will honor their seniors beforehand.
