Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Cougars Dealt 6th Conference Loss

Men's Soccer took to the road on Saturday the 7th, to play at Fort Lewis College on Sunday October 8th at 1pm. The Cougars took the field with a conference record of 1-5-1, and the Skyhawks were 4-1-2 and 4th in conference. Despite the Skyhawks playing short one man in the second half, the Cougars were unable to take advantage and took their 6th conference loss with a final score of 2-1.

The first goal was an own goal on the Skyhawks after a long pass back to the goalkeeper, giving the Cougars a 1-0 lead within the first five minutes of play. FLC responded and scored just ten minutes later to earn their first goal and equalize the score.

Coming in to the second half, the Cougars were under a lot of pressure as the Skyhawks kept the ball around the Cougars box. In the 65th minute, a Skyhawks forward earned his second yellow card giving him an automatic red, taking him out of the game and giving the Skyhawks a disadvantage of playing with only ten on the field.

After a foul in the Cougars box, Fort Lewis took a penalty kick and scored their second goal to make the final score of 2-1.

CCU got up 6 shots total, and FLC got up 15. Each team gave out two yellow cards, and only took one corner a piece. The loss gives the Cougars an overall record of 1-9-2, and 1-6-1 in the RMAC.

The Cougars next game will be hosted on Friday, October 13th against CSU Pueblo at 11AM at Trailblazer Stadium.
