Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Cougars Dealt First Conference Loss

Colorado Christian Men's Soccer took to the road for the first time this season, to play The Hardrockers of South Dakota School of Mines at 6pm on Friday, September 15th. The Cougars were unable to adjust to The Hardrockers offense, and took the loss with a final score of 5-1.

The Cougars took to the field in less than desirable conditions in Rapid City, playing on a damp field from previous rain showers and with a slight wind. The temperature dropped just below fifty degrees.

The Hardrockers put themselves on the board with a goal only ten minutes in. Their second goal was made in the 28th minute off of a penalty kick, which took the score going into halftime 2-0.

Coming in to the second half The Hardrockers were quick to double their score and got two goals right off the bat, making the score 4-0. The fifth goal was made near the end of the game, in the 67th minute.

Sophomore Larson Hanlin was able to get the only CCU goal of the game in the final seven minutes of play, earning his second goal of the season.

Cougars freshman goalie Taylor Budzinski had four saves in the midst of the fourteen shots taken by The Hardrockers, while The Cougars were able to put up six shots in the game.

Both teams played aggressively, with CCU dealing eight fouls and four yellow cards, while SDSM had eleven fouls. Corner kicks however were in The Cougars favor, as they took six and The Hardrockers took five.

The Cougars are now 1-1 in conference play, and will continue their campaign against Metro State for the second time this season. This time the game will be hosted by The Roadrunners, at 6pm on Wednesday, September 20th.
