The Cougars women's soccer team traveled to Denver today to take on the Roadrunners of Metro State. Coming into the match the Roadrunners were 0-1 in conference, with their loss coming at the hands of the Colorado School of Mines. CCU also came in at 0-1, losing earlier this week to Regis University.

The game started off strong in favor of CCU, with the Cougars outshooting the Roadrunners 6-2 until the 29
th minute when Metro State shot a rocket from the top right corner of the 18-yard box into the top left corner of the net going just over the hands of goalkeeper
Ashleigh Maguire.

Metro wasn't satisfied with the one goal and doubled it just six minutes later. That 2-0 score line would hold strong until halftime. Metro would end up outshooting CCU 8-6

The second half saw Metro State taking a much more cautious and defensive approach to the game. As predictable as it may have been, it ended up being an effective strategy. This tactic held the Cougars to just three shot in the second half until a lengthy lightning delay paused game action for nearly an hour and a half.

After the weather passed, play resumed and CCU managed another shot, but there was not enough time for the Cougars to mount a comeback. In the end, CCU managed a total of 10 shots, but only three were on target.

The Cougars fall to 3-4-0 on the season, and remain winless in RMAC competition. CCU will take on the Oredigger's of the Colorado School of Mines in their RMAC home opener at Trailblazer Stadium on September 24
th, at 2:30 p.m.
