COLORADO SPRINGS – After a promising start the Cougars fell victim to a strong second half.
UC Colorado Springs scored five times in the last 45 minutes to post a 6-0 win against Colorado Christian on Friday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Though tested through most of the first half, Colorado Christian played solidly enough to find themselves down just a goal at halftime. The Mountain Lions scored their lone goal of the opening frame when Alex VonHolle notched his eighth goal of the season in the 20th minute on a strike from 20 yards out.
After the intermission, the home team pulled away as the game ticked away. VonHolle recorded his second goal of the game in the 53rd minute after a nice feed from Corey Carabajal. After assisting on his squad's second goal, Carabajal tallied UC Colorado Spring's third and fourth goal of the game in the 66th and 73rd minutes respectively.
The contest remained 4-0 until the last five minutes as Kai Cormier (86th minute) and Mario Mandel (90th minute) close out the scoring.
