LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The promise of the season's first win was right in front of the Cougars but hope was dashed in the end.

CSU-Pueblo overcame an early deficit to post a 3-2 win against Colorado Christian with a late net-finder on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Cougars got on the scoreboard with game's first shot. Tanner Mackay scored his first goal of the season after volleying home a crossing feed from Larson Hanlin in the second minute.

Over the next 10 minutes the squad played evenly until the Thunderwolves (5-5-1, 2-4-2) scored the equalizer in the 14th minute. Harrison Sikes scored on the right side after a through pass from Santiago Tinta. The visitors scored the first half's final goal 10 minutes later as Tinta got on the scoreboard after securing a loose ball in the box.

The early moments of the second frame were nip-and-tuck. Colorado Christian tied the score with just over 30 minutes left as Dohnovyn Jackson played a back-and-forth game with Ethan Poulter before hitting the side netting with a rocket from 12 yards out.

The game seemed destined for an extra session but the Thunderwolves scored the game winner in the 75th minute. Archie Jones controlled the ball at the top of the box and blasted it over the goal line for his third goal of the season.
