The CCU women's soccer continued their winning ways today against Dixie State University, defeating the Trailblazers 2-0 in Lakewood, CO. It is the Cougars second shutout in as many games, and the win puts the Cougars over .500 midway through the conference schedule.
How It Happened:
The game was largely even throughout, with most team statistics and time of possession having no outright leader. The Cougars opened up the scoring in the 15th minute when Amanda Lopez sent a ball to the opposite side of the box for Stephanie Muchow to put away into the far side of the net. The goal was Muchow's third of the season, and the assist was Lopez's second. In total the Trailblazer outshot the Cougars 7-5, but the Cougars got the one that counted most.
The second half started with a Dixie State shot on goal, but that would be their lone attempt in the period. The Cougars would keep the pressure on and finally broke through in the 62nd minute when Amanda Lopez put her name on the box score again with her sixth goal of the year off a beautiful cross from senior Karli Wilson. CCU would get a few more shot attempts off in the remaining 25 minutes.
