LAKEWOOD, CO – Looking to build momentum before heading into conference games, Colorado Christian fell victim to a late game rally.
Kansas Wesleyan outscored the Cougars by 12 points down the stretch to comeback from double digits in notching a 59-54 victory.
Colorado Christian completes their six-game non-RMAC contests with a 2-4 mark.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Cougars were held to just two made field goals over the last seven-plus minutes while Kansas Wesleyan made seven during the same time period.
TURNING POINTS: There were two key moments in the game the Coyotes were able to stay within striking distance. Down 39-28 after a Collin Huun three-pointer with 13:44 left, Kansas Wesleyan methodically dwindled their disadvantage down to five points (47-42) at the last minute timeout.
The Coyotes shifted their defensive strategy and pressured heavily which forced a handful of Colorado Christian turnovers. They took the lead for good at 51-50 after a Jordan McNally three-pointer play with 2:35 left.
STATISCIALLY SPEAKING: Colorado Christian turned the ball over 21 times but none were bigger than the last seven during the final 19-7 scoring spurt the Coyotes had down stretch. Kansas Wesleyan was opportunistic with the Colorado Christian miscues as they held a 23-15 edge in points off turnovers.
Braxton Tucker led the Cougars in scoring with 19 points, including the Cougars first 11. He tied for game high honors with nine rebounds. Both Jeremiah Hanson and Justin Engesser had 12 points for the home.
