Strong Second Half Not Enough

CCU Men's Basketball played the Roadrunners of Metropolitan State University at 7:30pm on February 23rd, and lost by 19 with a final score of 82-63. The first half was controlled by MSU, who had a 16 point lead at the half. The second half however saw CCU playing a more evenly matched game, just three points shy of matching the Roadrunners second half score.

Metro started the game out strong, forcing CCU turnovers to help them go up by 20 points within the first ten minutes of play.

Although the Cougars were more composed offensively in the second half, the MSU defense continued to force more turnovers. CCU's defense also stepped it up to hold the Roadrunner offense more evenly.

The Cougars, who are currently second in the RMAC in FT%, had an abnormally low percentage in tonight's game with 57.9%.

Leading scorer in tonight's game was Jeremiah Hanson, bringing in 14. Right behind him with 10 points a piece was Preston Hardy and Stefan Hackethal

The loss gives CCU a record of 4-22 overall, and 3-17 in conference play. The Cougars will play their last game of their conference campaign against the Mountain Lions of UCCS, in Colorado Springs on February 24th with a 7:30pm tip-off.
