Coming off their first RMAC win against New Mexico Highlands on Friday, the Cougars traveled to Pueblo to take on the Thunderwolves. The Cougars were unable to get their conference record to .500 as they drop a high scoring game, 4-3. The Cougars now sit at 2-4-2 overall, 1-3 RMAC, and will play their next four games at Trailblazer stadium in Lakewood, CO.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars opened the scoring in the 27th minute when
Amanda Lopez sent her first shot of the day into the back of the net. Roughly five minutes later, the Thunderwolves would even the score, and the 1-1 score would hold until halftime.
Â
The second half saw roughly the same amount of shots being taken, but five more goals resulting. CSUP added a goal within the first 15 minutes of the second half, but CCU answered with a
Sophie Kern goal in the 61st minute, leveling the score again, this time at 2-2. The Wolves would tack on two more goals to reach their four-goal game total. The Cougars kept fighting even after the Wolves took their two goal lead, and added one more goal with 11 minutes left in the game, a second on the day from
Amanda Lopez. Unfortunately there wasn't enough time left after the Cougars third goal.
