Early Goal Lifts Cougars to Road Win

ALAMOSA, CO – The Cougars got to celebrate early then had to wait nearly 90 minutes for the real celebration to start.

Using a goal during the game's initial stages, the Colorado Christian men's soccer squad grabbed their first win of the season with 1-0 shutout at Adams State.

HOW IT HAPPENED: In the second minute the Cougars got on the scoreboard when Ulises Garcia scored off a Kyle McMillian corner kick. It was Garcia's first goal in a Colorado Christian uniform. For McMillian, it was also his first assist for the program.

The home team nearly tied the game late in the first half when Abdiolie Danso found the back of the cage on a penalty kick. However, the goal was nullified and Danso was given a second chance. His second attempt was saved by Max Collingwood as the teams went into the locker room moments later.

With about 10 minutes left in the game Adams State hit their second cross bar of the contest as they search for the equalizer. A last minute corner kick was the final grasp for Adams State but the play went without a goal as the Cougars secured the win.
