Late Goals Propel Regis

LAKEWOOD, CO – While the win column hasn't been chalked full of victories in 2019, the Cougars have continued to battle.

For nearly 70 minutes the Colorado Christian men's soccer team had one of the top teams in the RMAC on the ropes. Unfortunately the end results wasn't ideal. Regis found the back of the cage three times in the game's last 22 minutes as they notched a 3-0 win on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED: A majority of the first half was played in the field's middle third. Despite holding possession for just over the half the time, the visitors couldn't break through a stout Cougars backline.

Colorado Christian had a great scoring chance on a free kick but Jorge Lopez's blast from 25 yards out was saved by Aiden Lantaff and eventually the team's went into the locker room scoreless.

The Rangers were able to apply more pressure during the early stages of the second half but couldn't get past Colorado Christian goalie Max Collingwood and the defense in front of him.

Danilo Pekovic scored the game's first goal with a blast from 25 yards out. He collected a loose ball from just left of center and blasted a shot that clipped the crossbar and went over the goal line. Moments later he scored his second goal of the contest after the Cougars were called for a hand ball in the box. He deposited the penalty kick in the 76th minute.

In the 82nd minute Kristian Hooker completed the scoring after getting a nice through ball from Pekovic.
