Early Goals Propel Roadrunners

DENVER – A pair of early goals were enough to put a feisty Cougars squad on the wrong end of the scoreboard.

MSU Denver scored a pair of goals just over 10 minutes apart as they gained a 2-0 win against Colorado Christian on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The Roadrunners took advantage of their only two shots on goal in the first half as they were enough for the MSU Denver victory.

Jerry Gutierrez scored on the game's second shot as his blast from 25 yards out went high into the upper third of the cage in the 12th minute.

Ten minutes later the contest's final net-finder came when Bryce Montes teamed-up with Gutierrez. Montes gathered a through ball on the left side and slide it past Cougar goalie Max Collingwood.

In the second half Colorado Christian held a 5-4 overall shot advantage. Late in the contest the Cougars put three shots on frame in a comeback attempt but were thwarted on each attempt.
