LAKEWOOD, CO – The Colorado Christian women's volleyball team has signed five players for the 2020 season. The Cougars are adding four high school players and one transfer student-athlete to their roster.
Among the group are three outside hitters and two defensive specialists.
"These five players are an exciting group and I am looking forward to coaching them. With the addition of these five players the future of Colorado Christian volleyball is bright," said head coach Bobby Blanken.
Breanna Allen
Allen will join the Cougars with two years of collegiate eligibility remaining. She comes to Colorado Christian from Glendale Community College. She has already earned All-American honors once and named all-conference and all-region twice. The team went 42-13 in her two seasons. Allen played her prep volleyball at Valley Vista High School in the Surprise, AZ area.
Blanken on Allen: "Breanna is excited to be here and I think that Colorado Christian is a good fit for her. She can produce for what we need, for us to be successful."
Alli Douglass
The outside hitter comes to Colorado Christian after a solid prep career in Oregon. She was the team's co-captain this season while earning first-team all-conference while helping the Bowmans to a third-place conference finish. Last season she was voted the team's MVP. Douglass played on the varsity team all four seasons. She has a good collegiate lineage, having relatives who have played football or tennis. Her father was a football player at Pacific Lutheran.
Blanken on Douglass: "Alli has a very heavy arm and hits the ball really hard. She is willing to work at getting better which will help propel the team forward."
Madelyn Long
The native of Rockford, MI will join the squad as a libero/defensive specialist. Recently she picked-up her 1,000th career dig for Rockford High School. During the 2018 campaign, she earned all-conference honorable mention honors while helping the Rams to the conference, district and regional championship. They finished as the D1 state runner-up last season. She plans on being a Strategic Communications major at Colorado Christian.
Blanken on Long: "Madelyn will embrace any challenge put in front of her. She likes to grind away to get better but she enjoys that and gets excited for an obstacle thrown her way."
Megan Piton
Piton is welcomed to the Cougar program as a libero/defensive specialist. She has served as the Appleton North High School (WI) team captain each of the last two seasons. During that time the Lighting have tallied a 31-11 record and won the conference championships in 2019. Piton has recorded an 11:1 reception/error ratio the last two seasons. In addition to her volleyball exploits, she is also a member of the track team.
Blanken on Piton: "I really like Megan's personality. She isn't afraid to work hard and have fun at it. She is willing to throw herself on the floor to keep the ball alive."
Kylar Raymond
While at Dripping Spring High School (TX) she was a swimmer in addition to her volleyball exploits. During her junior year the squad reach the state semifinals. This season they are deep into the playoffs with the potential to win the state title. Off the court she is a solid student-athlete after earning academic all-district honors in 2018.
Blanken on Raymond: "Kylar comes from a great background. I watched her play and she can do a variety of things well but her biggest strength is her serve. She'll be an all-around player for us because she has great overall skills."
