First Half Lifts Chaminade

LAKEWOOD, CO – The Cougars were undone by Chaminade as Colorado Christian began its 2019 home campaign.

The Silverwords found the back of the net three times in the opening half and that proved to be enough as the visitors notched a 3-0 win on Friday afternoon at Lakewood Memorial Stadium

HOW IT HAPPENED: Colin Roemer was a one-man wrecking crew as he made his NCAA debut with a three-goal performance.

Roemer scored his initial goal in the 12th minute with a blast from 25 yards out. His second net-finder came in the 37th minute when he chipped the ball over Cougar goalie Max Collingwood; also from approximately 25 yards out.

The junior transfer completed his hat trick with a free kick just before the halftime buzzer. He put just enough strength behind the strike from 20 yards as the ball trickled past the goal line with 14 seconds left in the stanza.

Chaminade's net-minder Michael Stafford was threaten on occasion by the Cougars offense but he stopped all three shots on goal to earn the shutout.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

- Roemer took seven of the Swords 17 total shots
- Each team took a pair of corner kicks
- Liam Lakey, in his first start, took a team high two shots for the Cougars
- Collingwood made four saves in his third straight start for Colorado Christian

UP NEXT: The contest concluded the Cougars three-game non-conference slate as they begin RMAC play on Friday, Sept. 20 when they host MSU Denver at Trailblazer Stadium.
