LAKEWOOD, CO – The men's soccer RMAC opener did not go quite as planned.
MSU Denver scored all of the game's goals in the first half en route to a 5-0 win on Friday afternoon at Trailblazer Stadium
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Roadrunners put together a quality first half effort under first-year head coach Hank Lewis.
The visitors opened the scoring in the ninth minute when Benjamin Brill headed a Yannick Schad corner kick into the back of the cage. In the 15th minute Brayden Forrester hit a right footed volley off a Jaime Gutierrez feed from the far left side into the net.
Jerry Gutierrez concluded the scoring with three goals in just over 20 minutes. He scored his first net-finder in the 20th minute with a right footed blast from 25 yards out. Just over 10 minutes later he found a loose ball in the box and deposited the ball in the back of the net from in-tight. He scored his final goal on a penalty kick in the 43rd minute.
All three shots Gutierrez took in the game were on-goal.
