Second Overtime Game Downs Cougars

WINTER PARK, FL – The second game of the Florida trip had a similar start to game one but a disappointing finish.

After two scoreless regular periods Colorado Christian and Eckerd College headed into overtime. Eckerd scored the game winner in the 91st minute to give the Tritons the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Both teams started off hot with intense attacks. The first period of play saw the Cougars shoot four times and the Tritons with six shots. Colorado Christian had the advantage in corner kicks, with six in the first half to Eckerd's zero.

The second half did not see the same amount of offense as there were only six shots were taken in total.

Heading into overtime the Triton's and the Cougars both had three shots on goal with the Cougars having seven shots total and the Tritons having nine shots.

The overtime period did not last long as Ekcerd scored in the 91st minute to give the Tritons the win over Colorado Christian.

COUGAR LEADERS: Amanda Lopez had four shots during the game, Sarah Butler was next with two shots. Both of Butler's shots were on goal and one of Lopez's forced the keeper to make a save as well. Ashleigh Maguire had two saves for the Cougars on defense.

STATS FROM THE GAME:

  • For the third game in a row the two keepers for the Cougars split time with Maguire getting the start and Ireland VanDyke playing the second half and the overtime period.
  • Eckerd received ten fouls during the match while the Cougars committed only six.
     

UP NEXT: The Cougars will play the third and final game of the road trip Sunday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. (EST) against Rollins College.
