LAKEWOOD, CO – The Cougars battled. Whatever the stat sheet may say, the Colorado Christian men's soccer competed for 90 minutes and nearly got the season's first win.
Fort Lewis scored a first half goal and that was enough, despite the Cougars best efforts, to post a 1-0 win on Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Skyhawks scored in the 15th minute as Brantley Bice scored on a header from in-close after taking a feed from Ty Lang.
Fort Lewis continued to press and while the Cougars defense to bend it never broke. The visitors hit a post or a cross bar three times in the contests but didn't find the back of the cage again.
Colorado Christian had a great chance at an equalizer twice in the second half. In the 81st minute Ulises Garcia had a header from six yards out saved by Peter Byrne. Moments later Dmitri Fabro had a free kick from 20 yards curl around the wall but Byrne made a save.
