Women's Golf Opens "The Harriet"

LAKEWOOD, CO – The Colorado Christian women's golf team just got another boost in their efforts to be a regular in the nationally rankings.

On a windy morning last week, the Cougars opened up a brand-new Indoor Golf Facility equipped with a simulator, putting green and study lounge area.

The facility, which is housed inside the recently renovated All-Star Park, will be affectionately known as "The Harriet" after a generous donation from the Harriet Pratt Peterson family.

"The Harriet is a game changer for us. We've built such a cool community around this team over the last couple years, and Harriet and Bruce Peterson are a huge part of that. They believe in these girls and what we are doing here, and when I came to them with the idea for this facility, they were all in," said head coach Phil Nelson. "This will be a great place for the girls to call home and to continue to develop at a high level. The recruiting implications for this facility are huge as well. A top notch indoor facility is a must for the top teams in our region now. I am not sure there are many better facilities for a Division II school in our region now. Between our home courses and The Harriet, our practice facilities are about as good as it gets."

Over the last few seasons the program has moved up in the RMAC standings and were selected to be the conference's top team in this season's preseason coach poll.

After the fall season, in which the team competed in three events, the Cougars were ranked in numerous scoring categories and earned a national ranking of 26 according to GolfStat.

The squad is scheduled to tee off the spring season in mid-February at the Eagle Invitational at the Grand in San Diego.
