LAKEWOOD, CO – Making continued progress as a program, the Colorado Christian women's golf team posted numbers among the nation's best during the fall season.
"I am happy with the number of birdies we were able to make in relation to the rest of the nation. It shows the clear firepower we have," said head coach Phil Nelson. "We've got to clean up a few things this winter to allow those birdies to work harder for us, but I am excited about the direction this team is heading."
The Cougars are ranked 26th in the nation as GolfStat released its regular update. They are just five spots backs of Westminster, the top RMAC team, and just three behind Colorado Mesa.
Individually, Faith Kilgore is ranked 22nd overall; the highest among all RMAC competitors. Emily Donaldson earned a ranking of 64. Donaldson is listed as the fifth best in the conference. Kilgore earned conference Golfer of the Week honors twice during the fall while Donaldson garnered the honor once.
A deeper dive into the numbers reveal how the squad has had success thus far on the national level. The Cougars ranked 18th in the nation in par three scoring average (3.45), 21st on par four holes (4.56) and 14th on par five holes (5.28). Moreover, they are tied for fourth in the nation in birdies as a team during the fall season with 71.
The squad is scheduled to hit the course in the spring at the Eagle Invitational at the Grand in San Diego on Feb. 15 for the first of five regular season events.
