EDMOND, OK – Day two got underway with Colorado Christian facing St. Edwards and Rogers State.
In game one, Colorado Christian outlasted St. Edwards by a final of 8-5. Game two was the same story as yesterday as the Cougars fell to Rogers State, getting shut out.
COLORADO CHRISTIAN 8 – ST. EDWARDS 5
The Cougars started day two on a good note, scoring four runs in the second inning. Caitlyn McCarthy started the scoring with a triple to right center. Sydney Reamer continued with a double to right center, Kacie Burger doubled as well, scoring two and putting the Cougars up by four.
St. Edwards responded in the third and fourth innings, scoring one in the third and two in the fourth.
The Cougars jumped back on the board in the bottom of the fourth, Burger singled in her third RBI of the game, Stephanie Day followed that up with a triple to left center to score two more runs and stretch the lead back out to four.
Both teams scored a run in the fifth inning, a RBI groundout for St. Edwards and a single to center field from Piper Lujan. St. Edwards scored once more in the top of the seventh, but too little too late as the Cougars secured the 8-5 win.
Burger had two hits and three RBI, Day also added on two RBI on two hits. Jennifer Romero pitched six innings with three strikeouts and one walk to get the win. Reamer pitched the last frame and was credited with the save.
ROGERS STATE 3 – COLORADO CHRISTIAN 0
In a game that was dominated by the pitching Rogers State escaped with a 3-0 win despite only collecting three hits.
Rogers State scored twice in the first off two bases loaded walks, they scored again in the sixth on a fielder's choice.
Sami Edwards and Stephanie Day recorded the only two hits for the Cougars in the loss.
