Cougars Offense Roars Alive in Two Games

DENVER, CO – Colorado Christian hosted a pod this weekend at MSU Denver, competing against both MSU Denver and New Mexico Highlands.

COLORADO CHRISTIAN 5 – MSU Denver 4

A furious comeback for the Cougars in Game One, thanks to five runs being scored in the last two innings for the Cougars.

In a fantastic pitcher's duel, runs were few and far between. MSU Denver scored first, scoring in the second inning on a single to left field.

The Roadrunners scored again in the fifth, with a double down the right field line to increase the lead to two runs for MSU Denver.

Two more runs came in for the Roadrunners in the sixth inning, a double to right-center field followed up by a single to center field.

Down but not out. Colorado Christian roared back in the sixth inning, scoring three runs in the sixth inning. Piper Lujan started the rally with a double to left field scoring both Stephanie Day and Caitlyn McCarthy.  Jamie Romero followed that up with a single up the middle bringing Sydney Reamer home to score.

A scoreless top of the seventh gave the Cougars a chance to win or take the game to extra innings, after Sami Edwards reached, Stephanie Day got a hanging curveball and deposited it over the left center field fence to end the game.

COLORADO CHRISTIAN 20 – NEW MEXICO HIGHLANDS 2

In a game that was never close, the Cougars continued the momentum gained in the first game to steam roll the Cowgirls.

The Cougars scored eight runs in the first inning, batting through the lineup Samaria Roope and Sami Edwards both had RBI singles.

Highlands got on the board in the top of the second, with a two RBI double to left center.

Sydney Reamer and Kacie Burger both doubled in the second inning, Reamer driving in two RBI, and Burger bringing home the 11th run of game.

In the third, Roope brought in two more runs on a double to right center. Piper Lujan and Jamie Romero also singled to increase the lead to 17-2.

Reamer finished the scoring for the Cougars with an exclamation point, a three run home run to center.

The Cougars are back in action tomorrow with games at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
