Day Two of Edmond Regional Leads to 1-1 Day

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – Day Two of the Edmond Regional Festival kicked off this morning with the Cougars continuing their success from Day One.

Game number one saw Colorado Christian handle business against Southwest Baptist, scoring five runs in the first and winning 5-1. Game number two didn't go the Cougars way, falling to Central Oklahoma by a final of 7-1.

COLORADO CHRISTIAN 5, SOUTHWEST BAPTIST 1 – Colorado Christian scored all five runs in an explosive first inning, after  Kacie Burger reached on an error Sami Edwards brought her home with a double down the RF line. Stephanie Day followed that up with a single up the middle, scoring Edwards. Caitlyn McCarthy and Makena Martin both followed that up with doubles of their own, getting the Cougars to five runs in the first inning.

Southwest Baptist scored in the fourth inning, but Samaria Roope pitched a gem, throwing five innings, only allowing four hits, striking out three, and only allowing one run.

Day had two hits and Roope had three hits for the Cougars.

CENTRAL OKLAHOMA 7, COLORADO CHRISTIAN 1 – The Cougars had seven hits in game number two, but they were not able to score with as much ease. Scoring once in the fifth and that was it.

Central Oklahoma scored once in the first, five times in the second and one time in the fifth inning to pull away from Colorado Christian.

The Cougars scored in the fifth off a RBI groundout from Stephanie Day, but that was all the offense they were able to muster as Colorado Christian left six on base.

Sami Edwards and Kiah Parker both had two hits for the Cougars.
