DURANGO, CO – The second weekend of RMAC play is underway, Colorado Christian traveled down to Fort Lewis for a four game series.
COLORADO CHRISTIAN 1 – FORT LEWIS 3: In a low scoring, defensive affair, the Cougars lost in the bottom of the seventh on a walk off home run.
Starting the scoring in the second inning, Piper Lujan homered to left field to give the Cougars an early lead. The Skyhawk's tied the game in the bottom of the third and then took the lead and won the game in the bottom of seventh with a two run home run.
Lujan scored the only run for the Cougars, Jamie Romero and Sami Edwards also had hits for the Cougars. Jennifer Romero pitched six innings with seven strikeouts and only one run.
COLORADO CHRISTIAN 13 – FORT LEWIS 2: The offense came alive for the Cougars in game two, scoring 13 runs on Fort Lewis.
The scoring started with Stephanie Day reaching on an error which scored Caitlyn McCarthy. Piper Lujan then homered for the second time in two games bringing in two runs, and Sydney Reamer also homered to right center to bring the Cougars to four runs in the first inning.
Both teams stayed quiet until the fourth inning where Reamer homered again to left center to increase the lead to five. Fort Lewis responded in the bottom of the fourth with a two run home run.
Day hit a solo home run in the fifth inning. The Cougars scored seven more runs in the seventh inning. Lujan had a two RBI single, Sydney Reamer doubled to left field bringing in two more runs, Samaria Roope singled into left to bring Kacie Burger in, Kiah Parker finished the scoring with a two RBI single to left field to finish the game with a 13-2 win for the Cougars.
Lujan had three two hits and four RBI, Reamer went 4-4 with two HR. Sydney Rawlings pitched all seven innings, with six strikeouts and only allowed two runs.
