DURANGO, CO – Not the start to RMAC play Colorado Christian was hoping for.
Fort Lewis ended a few winning streaks for the Cougars as they posted a 3-0 victory on Friday afternoon.
Colorado Christian's seven game winning streak comes to a close as well as the school record 6-0 start. The road loss also ended a five game road winning streak for the team.
HOW IT HAPPENED: An evenly played first 20 minutes saw each team register a handful of shots until the home team broke the tie.
In the 24th minute Gabriel Legendre scored his RMAC leading fifth goal of the season on a penalty kick. That lone goal held up during the first 45 minutes. Fort Lewis held a 9-2 edge in overall shots during the period.
The Skyhawks grew their lead with the second goal of the game in the 52nd minute. Legendre scored his second goal of the afternoon off a feed from Brantley Bice. Ten minutes later Bice got into the scoring action. The senior registered the contest's final goal with an assist from Georgi Stonyanov in the 62nd minute.
During the second period the Cougars put a pair of shots on goal in the 77th and 79th minutes by Caiden Dixon and Lucca Casci but they couldn't break the shutout.
