LAKEWOOD, CO – It only took a little bit of momentum.
Despite some early struggles, the Colorado Christian volleyball team rebounded in fine fashion as they recorded a 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-18) victory against Westminster on Friday evening.
It is their second straight RMAC victory in recording their third win in five conference matches.
HOW IT HAPPENED: In the opening frame the Cougars were just resilient. Down 10-3, the Cougars responded by taking a 21-18 edge. However, Westminster battled back and earned a set point. The pesky Cougars would not take defeat as they fought off the set point against them before claiming an early match lead.
That momentum carried over into the second frame for the home team. Colorado Christian never trailed as they raked-in a two set lead in the match.
Colorado Christian's quality play continued into the final frame. After back-and-forth points to start the set, the Cougars took control. Led by Kristy Dick's and Libby Goodman's six kills each, Colorado Christian produced a 17-kill set en route to the sweep.
In the match the Cougars offense tallied a .232 hitting mark while limiting the Griffins to just a .104 hitting percentage.
COUGAR LEADERS: Bre Allen led the Colorado Christian with 12 kills and a .364 hitting percentage. Goodman was just behind her with an 11-kill performance.
Defensively Madelyn Long notched 16 digs from her libero position as Izzy Jones doled out 43 assists.
