LAKEWOOD, CO – Trying to stop a quality offense is hard to do.
The Colorado School of Mines offense came in as the top hitting team in the nation and they show why as they tallied a 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-13) victory on Friday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Colorado Christian was looking to keep the No. 5 Orediggers at bay. They had success in the opening frame but Mines ultimately showed why their offense is strong.
During the initial set the Cougars battled well as they found themselves down just 21-20. However, Mines inched ahead and did just enough to claim an early lead.
The entire match flipped in the middle of the second set. Colorado Christian held 14-10 but the Orediggers scored 11 of the next 13 points en route to a two-set lead in the match. During that set, the visitors offense came to life as they hit .370 in the stanza.
That momentum Mines built carried into the final stanza. In that set, the Orediggers produced 17 kills and a .556 hitting percentage to seal the sweep.
