ALAMOSA, CO – A rough hitting night was tough to overcome.
The Cougars women's volleyball squad couldn't find an offensive rhythm as Adams State posted a 3-1 (25-19, 22-25, 25-17, 25-16) victory on Saturday evening.
With the setback, Colorado Christian moves to 9-11 overall and 6-6 in RMAC contests.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Cougars hit a season low .051 as they committed 36 hitting errors. Conversely, the Grizzles were steady throughout as their offensive numbers saw them notch a .228 hitting percentage.
The opening set was back-and-forth until the later stages when the Grizzlies pulled away. In that stanza there were 11 ties and seven lead changes before Adams State scored six of the last eight points to take the match lead.
Colorado Christian leveled the contest with a second set win as they never let the home team hold a lead. Unfortunately the Cougars couldn't keep that strong play moving forward. Combined in the final two sets the Colorado Christian offense had 20 kills but committed 19 hitting errors. Adams State produced 24 kills and just seven hitting errors in the final two sets.
COUGAR LEADERS: Alli Douglas had a team high 12 kills with Lilly Woods registering nine. Madelyn Long had a quality match along the back line with a 24-dig evening.
UP NEXT: The Cougars travel to No. 1 MSU Denver on Thursday evening for a 7:00 p.m. contest
