SALT LAKE CITY, UT - The Cougars fall to Westminster in a 3-0 loss sending the Cougars home 0-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED - The Cougars were determined to come out with a win after losing to Colorado Mesa. Westminster came out stronger, in the first six minutes of the game Alex Hoffman, assisted by Alexa Maple, fired a shot in the top right corner.
The Griffins had 13 shots in the first half, requiring goalkeeper Ireland Van Dyke to make five saves. Colorado Christian held Westminster to a 1-0 at half time.
Coming into the second half, in the 52nd minute, Alexa Maple shot a driven ball into the top left corner of the goal, another nearly impossible save for any goalkeeper.
As the Cougars are down 2-0, they undertake another 16 shots in the second half while Van Dyke makes another five saves.
The third and final goal by the Griffins, came from Alexa Maple once again in the 58th minute scoring the same goal as her first, in the upper left hand corner.
Despite the strong defense of the Cougars and Van Dyke, they could not capitalize in the final attacking third to compete with the Griffins.
