LAKEWOOD, CO - Two weekend games. Never trailed.
The Colorado Christian men's basketball team finished their two-game post-Thanksgiving weekend with a perfect record as they knocked off Park-Gilbert 76-54 on Saturday afternoon.
With the win the Cougars end non-conference play with a 3-3 record.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The first several minutes of the game saw the Cougars build a 12-2 lead. At the halfway point in the stanza, Colorado Christian limited the visitors from Arizona to just two made field goals as the Cougars held a 17-4 edge. During the rest of the half, Colorado Christian let their lead slip to eight points (28-20) with 1:21 left until halftime. However, the Cougar boosted that lead to 35-20 as the teams went into the locker room.Â
Midway through the second half the game was all but made official. With Colorado Christian leading 37-27, the home went on a 15-4 scoring spurt to stretch their lead to 21 points. The Cougars led by at least 19 points the rest of the game.
For the second game the Cougars proved effective from behind the arc. They nailed 13 long range shots en route to the win.
COUGAR LEADERS:
Ross Williams had a game high 28 points bolstered by his 7-for-11 effort from behind the arc. The seven made three-pointers are the second most in a game by a Colorado Christian player.
Jason Gallant also went for double figures as the transfer from the University of San Diego scored 13 points off the bench.Â
