COLORADO SPRINGS – Moving a program forward comes with emotional swings, Saturday's season opening contest was a nail biter worth the end result.

With three early goals, the Colorado Christian got the scoring they needed as they knocked off Colorado College 3-2 on a chilly afternoon.

The victory gave the Cougars their first season opening win since the 2014 campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Dmitri Fabro scored the opening goal in the 28th minute on a penalty kick. In the moments leading up the net-finder, the Cougars were pressing and just earned a corner kick seconds before the foul in the box.

The score remained that way until a Liam Lakey shot crossed the goal line in the 48th minute off a Caiden Dixon assist. Colorado Christian built a 3-0 lead in the 66th minute as Ben Hess scored his first collegiate goal assisted by Gabe Roloff.

Colorado College, the defending SCAC regular season champions, made things interesting when they scored in the 75th minute to cut into the Cougars lead. The home team pulled within a goal in the 84th minute. Fortunately for Colorado Christian they didn't allowed another Tigers shot the rest of the contest.
