LAKEWOOD, CO – If the first two games of the Colorado Christian men's soccer season are indication of what's to come, it is going to be wild ride.
The Cougars won their first two games of the season for the first time since 2014 after posting a thrilling 2-1 double overtime win against Regis on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT UNFOLDED: The Cougars had an opportunity to go up a goal midway through the first half but Dmitri Fabro's penalty kick went off the left post. Neither team put a shot on frame in the first 45 minutes as they headed to the locker room.
The game's first goal came in the 66th minute when Jorge Lopez scored his first goal of the season off a Larson Hanlin assist. Lopez booted a right footed shot from eight yards out into the right corner for his first goal of the season.
Regis tied the score with just over 10 minutes. Kristian Hooker scored an unassisted goal when a misplay on the ball by Colorado Christian goalie Max Collingwood gave Hooker a clear path to the net.
The winning goal came with 10 seconds left in the contest. Off a corner kick, Liam Lakey was credited with the goal after Jorge Lopez's feed into the box was knocked it the back of the cage.
A chippy game saw eight yellow cards and one red card. During the second overtime period, Regis played with 10 men on the pitch.
QUOTEABLE: Head Coach Brad Camp
"We always try to push our guys to be men of God and show up for our brothers. We continue to push that. Going into the game we were pushing humility. One thing we told the guys before the season we always have to score two goals because to overcome where we have come from to where we want to be, one goal isn't going to be enough. We have so far done that in our two games."
"I hope that we continue to stay humble and find that proper spot of humility each time we play. We have been fortunate to manage the obstacles of the heath pandemic well and that plays into our favor. But we have to make the most of that. To play a team like Regis, they are a talented well coached team, so we have to do whatever we could to catch breaks. We are going to enjoy this win then get back to work."

- Regis held a slim 14-11 edge in overall shots
- Its the programs first win vs. Regis since the 2000 season

- Collingwood made five saves for his second straight victory
