LAKEWOOD, CO – Hoping to continue their best start in school history, Colorado Christian couldn't grab their fifth straight victory.
Despite overcoming a deficit, the Cougars didn't complete the comeback as South Dakota Mines posted a 2-1 victory in the double-overtime in a non-conference men's soccer contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Early in the contest the Hardrockers found the back of the cage but an offside call negated the only potential net-finder during the first 45 minutes. During the opening stanza the Cougars had a 6-3 edge in total shots.
South Dakota Mines took a 1-0 lead when Ransom Hall scored the visitors first goal of the season when he put home a shot from in close after George Martinez's initial shot was saved but Hall deposited the rebound.
Dmitri Fabro tied the contest with a penalty kick in the 79th minute. Fabro was given the opportunity when Zach Mercier drew a foul in the box.
A goal from the penalty spot sealed the win for the Hardrockers. Pehilip Leano scored after the Cougars were called for a hand ball in the box in the 105th minute.
COUGAR LEADERS: Aiden McGeown took a team high three shots with Fabro and Silas Hess each taking a pair.
Chayce Willet and Silas Hess played the entire game at their field positions.
