LAKEWOOD, CO – Just not the day the Cougars were looking for.
A pair of first half goals were enough for CSU Pueblo as they registered a 2-0 victory against Colorado Christian in an RMAC men's soccer match-up.
The overcast skies weren't the only thing overshadowing the pitch as the Cougars were forced to play with nine players for the final 20 minutes.
HOW IT HAPPENED: A pair of goals from set pieces early in the contest secured the victory for the Thunderwolves.
Miguel De Leon scored in the 11th minute off a corner kick from Nazar Deputant. De Leon hit the ball after a quick scramble in front of the cage. Less than two minutes later Emil Joensson wrapped up the scoring from another corner kick. Vinzent Zingel sent the ball towards the box where Joensson headed the ball into the goal.
In the 27th minute the Cougars received their first red card, forcing them to play a man down for the remainder of the contest.
With just under 20 minutes left in the contest, another blow came to the home team when they were booked for their second red card.
